Green Performance

Our commitment to environmental action stems from our BlueWay initiative. As a leader in the electrical industry, we realize that the choices we make have an impact on our state of well-being, in association to the planet we live on.

We are taking action to implement green change. We are also raising awareness through education and knowledge exchange with our BlueWay information portal and Energy Saving/Environmental Week. It is through these mediums that we hope to foster green behaviour among our vendors, customers and followers and encourage them to make lifestyle adjustments that will positively impact the environment. We want to inspire others to take control of their energy consumption and environmental impact.

We believe that the contributions we are making do add up to lasting and meaningful change towards a greener earth. There is no empty talk within Sonepar Canada. Here are some of the things we are doing to make a difference:

• Educate and share energy saving and environmentally friendly applications with vendors and customers through BlueWay, Energy Saving/Environmental Week, seminars and workshops
• Sell and use energy saving and renewable energy applications such as solar and wind
• Sell and use eco-certified green cleaning products
• Our branches are undergoing a BlueWay certification process
• Conduct carbon footprint audits of our branches
• Filter tap water
• Compost our coffee
• Reduce, reuse and recycle
• Keep printing down to a minimum, print double-sided and use smaller font to save on paper
• Use brown paper bags or reusable bags in our operating company branches
• Recycle e-waste, light fixtures, ballasts, cable, wires and more
• Power off all lights and computers at night
• Use energy efficient lighting and LED exit lights in our operating company branches
• Purchase energy efficient electronic equipment and Energy Star appliances
• Offer light, battery and e-waste recycling in our branches
• Install occupancy, vacancy and motion sensors into our locations
• Reuse and recycle wooden wire reels
• Use porcelain coffee mugs instead of disposable paper or styrofoam cups
• Manage branch and office temperature with programmable HVAC controls
