Global Recycling Day was created in 2018 to help recognize, and celebrate, the importance recycling plays in preserving our primary resources and securing the future of our planet. It is a day for the world to come together and put the planet first. Recycling is a key part of the circular economy, helping to protect our natural resources. Each year the ‘Seventh Resource’ (recyclables) saves over 700 million tonnes in CO2 emissions, and this is projected to increase to 1 billion tons by 2030.
Sustainable development is at the very core of Impact, our strategic business plan, and the Planet pillar is one of our primary areas of focus. Our strategy is fully aligned with the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainability Development Goals. Sonepar is fully committed to being more sustainable and is preparing for future energy transition challenges by promoting energy efficient products and raising awareness on sustainability internally.
Blueway runs the Ontario Recycling program with SESCO, Dixon and MGM where they work with a third-party company who collects the lamps and ballast, breaks them down and recycles their materials or disposed of them safely. Till date over 2.56 million lamps,1.15 million ballasts, 769 thousand kg of glass, 10 thousand kgs of metals, 9 thousand kgs of phosphor, 47 kgs of mercury and 6.1 thousand kgs of plastic, 56 thousand kgs of PCB and 2 thousand kgs of Porcelain. BlueWay has worked with a diverse range of clients to complete energy efficiency projects and consulting on energy efficiency program design.
Electricity is the clean energy of the future, and our vision is to become the world’s leading electrical distributor accelerating the market adoption of clean energy solutions and net zero emissions. We are proud of the efforts our organization makes towards a sustainable future.
